Message from the President

April 30, 2008

Dear Friends,

It was with great pleasure that Québec City hosted the 85th Atlantic Dermatological Conference from April 25-27, 2008. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude; I am so proud of the success of this year’s conference.

The organization of this meeting represented a colossal task! A task made all the more difficult as we were confronted with the additional constraint of building the entire conference in English within a purely French-speaking milieu.

We succeeded with eloquence!

The overall quality of the conference and the final impression retained by the participants are the reflection of the incredible amount of energy and funds invested in this congress.

The unique feature of the Atlantic Dermatological Conference is the live patient viewings. We requested the assistance of many fellow-colleagues throughout Québec and the Maritimes and they answered our call. Sixty-three exceptional cases were selected out of the more than one hundred cases submitted. Of the 63 invited patients, only one was unable to attend; a participation rate which we have never seen before.

The members of the executive committee of the Québec Dermatological Society met on several occasions for the planning of this meeting. The implication of the Montreal Dermatological Society allowed for the accreditation of the congress by the American Academy or Dermatology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

We entrusted the logistics of the conference to Sorelcomm Inc., Professional Congress Organizer, whose team ensured that all aspects of the event run smoothly from the beginning of our agreement in 2006 until the very end.

I would like to make a point of emphasizing the support of our Industry Partners. Without their generous contributions we could not have offered such a rich and ambitious program.

Last but not least, this meeting was a great success thanks to the participation of the 300 dermatologists from Eastern Canada and the United States. Without your participation, all this work would have been futile. Thank you to all of you who attended!

The 85th Atlantic Dermatological Conference is the most important dermatological event held in Canada to date. We should all be very proud! The success proves that we are a community of incredibly active and dynamic dermatologists.

Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart!

Yves Poulin
President of the 85th ATLANTIC DERMATOLOGICAL CONFERENCE
